My Journey in Jakarta - KOPI KOTAKU + Simple OOTD

KOPI KOTAKU

Jl. Wijaya I No.73, RT.10/RW.1, Petogogan, Kby. Baru, Kota Jakarta Selatan, Daerah Khusus Ibukota Jakarta 12170

Opening Hours:
Monday - Sunday 9AM-9PM

Hey guys, welcome back to my blog! Long time no write (what kind of phrase is this lol). I want to put a good cafe review in Jakarta for some people who want to explore more about Jakarta and more good cafe to visit with your clients / business partner / family / your partner / yourself. I went to this cute cafe after I got a recommendation from my other friend from her social media. I really love to visit cute or aesthetically pleasing cafe. Even tho, I am not an aesthetic person or tumblr addict. I just easily getting bored with same place.

I usually grab my coffee in Starbucks which is nothing special. Everyone in this world knows Starbucks and I couldn't take good photo inside Starbucks because ... Starbucks interiors are all the same all over Indonesia. I don't know about the other country. I ever visited Starbucks in Thailand and their stores just the same as others.

So let's get straight to the point about this cafe called KOPI KOTAKU.

Interior and Concept:

They use Japanese minimalistic as their cafe theme. I am not knowing much about the art of coffee in Japan or Japanese related things, I just love the place because it's clean, simple, and a great place to take some pictures for your instagram feed or your own collection. Also the price is quite affordable, way cheaper than Starbucks.

Food and Beverages:

I ordered Matcha or Green Tea Latte and my second drink was Coffee Milk or well known as Kopi Susu in Bahasa Indonesia. Also a single salted egg / cheese (I don't remember much) croissant. My friend also ordered Vanilla Latte and one cup of Kopi Susu. You can search on ZOMATO phone app about the menu and the price details. I couldn't write one by one all their menu here.

Services:

Everyone who helped me and my friend with order is nice. Quick service and I have no complain. Wi-fi access is quite fast as well.

My Journey to Thailand - Food Mania in Bangkok

I probably forgot most of these restaurant names because I didn't put those names on my phone note (which was so stupid of me). But still, I want to share some amazing food that I had while I was in Thailand back then.

Thailand probably the most favorite country in my list, beside all friendly people that I met... culinary in Thailand was also one of a kind. I never can say "no" for Thai food. They are amazing in my opinion. Fruits in Thailand especially are so fresh and also cheap (comparing what we have here in Indonesia). I can eat fresh fruits basically everywhere in Thailand. About the price, everything is almost affordable in my opinion. Because the currency is not too strong comparing to Indonesian Rupiah, so I feel such a rich person every time I go to Thailand.

My favorite Thai signature dish is Tom Yam. There are Tom Yam Goong and Tom Yam Kai. Both are my favorites. Also the papaya salad a.k.a. Som Tam is also one of the best. Som Tom definitely not everyone's cup of tea, but I think this dish is so unique. You can eat Som Tam as a salad and also eat it with rice. Notto forget, their seafood! Always amazing (look at the last picture above!) The seafood platter was actually around US$2-$3 and it was coming from a street vendor near a temple.

Their modern cafes are also amazing. Cheap but yet tasty. Instagram-able to take a picture in almost every cafe. I was feeling like "oh is this Thailand version of Hongdae area from Korea?". I also visited one of Korean restaurant. It was pretty small near SIAM area. Again, I forgot the name. But the cheese chicken with tteokbokki was one of the best that I ever had.

Go to Thailand and discover those similar food as I recommended. Definitely you will fall in love with the country even more!
Happy trying, xoxo.

xoxo,
Margaret

Also, I will comeback to South Korea at the end of the year to see my boyfriend and his family back in Korea. I can't wait to meet people that I know there, eating delicious korean food, and discovering new places. I will upload more episodes soon, I hope all of you can enjoy these three videos first! I have so many projects and I am still on my exam week, that's why I can't edit or upload more videos lately. March and April both were the hardest months actually. I did struggle a lot to survive in uni.

Happy watching!

My Journey to Thailand - Living and Being a Teacher in Thailand

I decided to make a blog post because I just finished watching someone's Instagram story. I am here sitting and thinking like,... It's funny how people are talking about changing our world condition online (especially some media influencers) but they exactly are not doing anything in real life. They are talking how important to change the world to be a better place but exactly they are not doing anything to change our world condition to be a better place.

Some of them are criticizing government, mentioning how important the education is, how important to protect the environment, and many more bullshits that they shared. Well, I don't know why I can feel if someone is just acting they like they care. In fact, they are not even care and keep going with their own life without even care to give their other hand to help people who exactly need their help. Actually, helping some people who really need our help is not that hard. You can do a lot of small things to make a change. It's such a bullshit if you are using your popularity to promote social events, acting like you care about supporting each other, but you are not. You just use that to make a great image for your own sake.

I am not saying that I am better than those people. But at least in my thought, I don't really need to speak up about something that I don't do and I prefer to speak up about things that I actually do or I really do care about. In the end of 2016, I flew to Thailand to a small province and stayed in a small village to teach English. I also did volunteer job here and there in Indonesia to improve education among children. But I don't have any free time to tell all of you about the complete story. I earned so many life value and learnt so many things from the new place where I worked at.

I am glad that I am changing to be a better person of myself. I started to appreciate things in my life even more because I was there in a place where everyone is trying to get a proper education / even proper food to eat. I just want to mention to all media influencers who always act fake everywhere they go, including "acting care" in addressing social issue. Better you shut up if you don't do anything to change the world. It is just making me and other people who actually work hard to make this world to be better mad... okay?

Remember,
Help people are not that hard. Starting from simple things will help!

Sanbangsan Mountain

218-10, Sanbang-ro, Andeok-myeon, Seogwipo-si, Jeju-do
제주특별자치도 서귀포시 안덕면 산방로 218-10 (안덕면)

We were waking up so early to be able to visit this mountain. Everything was wonderful and I could feel fresh air here. The sensation of stress free definitely made me think "Oh I don't want to go home now and leave Jeju especially this Sanbangsan mountain area." It was quite cold in the morning and raining a bit for 20 minutes. Luckily, I had my sukajan jacket with me. It's water resistant and it made my body warm enough.

We didn't do much there. We just went down from the hills. We could see amazing view. But because it was so early, no one opened food stores. There was just one (or even two I didn't remember much) store opened in front of our eyes. We basically tried Beondegi (번데기). If you don't know, Beondegi or in korean 번데기 (based on wikipedia) is a snack food in Korean cuisine. Literally meaning "chrysalis" or "pupa" in Korean, Beondegi are steamed or boiled silkworm pupae which are seasoned and eaten as a snack. It was my first time ever eating that. It looked horrible. But honestly Beondegi didn't taste that awful, the smell was not that strong but yea still had a weird smell. Describing the taste, it was kind of the same as peanut.

We walked around and took several good pictures. At least, we spent two hours there. We were waiting for the bus and the rain to stop. Took more efforts and times then we expected. Not a lot of buses were going there in the morning.

I do really recommend this place to you guys. Visit this place in the morning, maybe around 8 or 9AM. You will meet fresh air (not during winter I guess). The transition season is the best season for you to visit korea. These photos were taken during Summer to fall season transition. I didn't feel too hot or too cold.
